Saturn is one of the giants of our solar system. Its diameter and mass are nine times that of Earth, and a year there is 30 Earth years. SaturnΓÇÖs atmosphere consists mostly of methane, ammonia, ethane, helium, and molecular hydrogen. It has a low density, 70 percent that of water, which means it would easily float if there were an ocean big enough to hold it. Compared with Jupiter, Saturn appears rather bland and colorless, although both planets have a similar system of dark and bright bands. Like Jupiter, Saturn rotates quickly. At the planetΓÇÖs equator a day is only 10 hours and 14 minutes. The rotational velocity causes atmospheric turbulence, creating jet streams with winds that reach up to 100 meters per second.
